Renters who possess their own avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe may opt to rent avalanche airbags separately from the "full kit". This allows experienced backcountry users to enhance their safety with an airbag while utilizing their personal safety equipment.

Niseko Basecamp is committed to promoting safety in the backcountry. To this end, we offer a rental service for essential backcountry safety gear, including avalanche beacons, shovels, and probes. This policy outlines the requirements for renting this equipment to ensure responsible use and minimize potential risks.

Rental Requirements:

Recognizing the critical role this equipment plays in backcountry safety, Niseko Basecamp requires all renters to meet one of the following conditions:

1. Guided Backcountry Activities: Renters must be participating in a guided backcountry tour or activity led by a qualified guide or instructor who can guarantee proper training on the use of the rented equipment.
2. Proof of Avalanche Safety Training: Renters must provide proof of completion of a recognized avalanche safety training course equivalent to at least an Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 (AST 1). Acceptable proof includes a certificate of completion or other official documentation from the training provider.

Disclaimer

While Niseko Basecamp provides access to essential safety equipment, it is the renter's responsibility to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills to use the equipment effectively. Renting safety gear does not guarantee safety in the backcountry. Backcountry travel is inherently risky, and conditions can change rapidly.

Liability

Niseko Basecamp is not liable for any accidents, injuries, or losses that may occur while using rented equipment. Renters assume all risks associated with backcountry travel.

Enforcement

Niseko Basecamp reserves the right to refuse rental of safety equipment to any individual who does not meet the requirements outlined in this policy.
